How would you commemorate the centenary of a horrific event in the life of a people? Is it possible to commemorate the dead as well as celebrate the triumph of human spirit of survival? Such questions lingered in my mind for months as the hundredth anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on the 24th of April 2015 was approaching. The Genocide was a state-implemented crime against 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, today’s Turkey.

"Armine, Sister" continues to equally haunt and soothe me. Weeks have lapsed since I saw the European premiere in London and am trying to make sense of the experience in words. And I am very much aware of being rough and raw much like the physical theatre experience itself.
Armenian Folk Dance: A Celebration of Life

Song and dance are significant expressions of the Armenian ethos, especially for Armenians living in dispersion. Armenian dance provides a living and evolving link with the historic homeland and present day Armenia. Love and yearning for the homeland or the beloved are central themes in both Armenian folk songs and dances.

Das Tanzen hat mir im vergangenen Jahr viele ergreifende Momente geboten, um mich zu verbinden, zu reflektieren und das verbindende und universelle Geheimnis von Tanz und Musik als „Muttersprache“ zu enthüllen. Von der Erfahrung, mit Judy King in der majestätischen Kathedrale von Wells (Somerset, England) eine Tanzsuite mit dem Titel „Unser Angebot ist Frieden“ zu tanzen, bis hin zu einer faszinierenden, reichhaltigen Kultur- und Kreistanzreise in Taroudant/Marokko mit Laura Shannon, durchsetzt mit Unterrichtsmöglichkeiten in Marseille und Venedig mit armenischen Jugendlichen aus verschiedenen Ländern, die zusammenkamen, um ihr Identitätsgefühl durch Tanz, Musik, Film, Theater und Literatur zu entdecken und zu teilen. Diese intensiven Tanzwochen und sehr intensiven Gelegenheiten haben es mir ermöglicht, zu beobachten und
